THE Boogie Down BRONX

Welcome to the best Boro in NYC, the Boogie Down Bronx. The Bronx is one of the most beautiful places on earth and it's the people who make it as amazing as it is. The Bronx started off as a large piece of land that was settled by Jonas Bronck, who settled his farm on the Bronx River. The boro is named after him.

The Bronx was home to immigrant groups moving out of the Lower East Side and Harlem.

The building of the Cross Bronx displaced and relocated many families from their homes. The Bronx had seen buildings burning and the rise of crime in beginning in the 60s.

However, the Bronx is also home to  the Yankees, SALSA (wepa!) and Hip Hop (& you don't stop, okurr!).  From Hector Lavoe, to Sylvia Rivera, from Sonia Sotomayor to A. Boogie, the Boogie Down produces talented and determined individuals (like the 9x9 students!)

Rapid Gentrification has been changing the Bronx. As rents continue to rise and families are displaced, it is imperative our young people learn about where they live and why it is so important to preseve the culture and history. The Bronx is home to people who challenge and change history. The residents of the Bronx are resilient and powerful.

You know where we are from when we call you by "Yeerrrr!"

Don't sleep on the Boogie Down!
